Eric Gomez is a research fellow with TSM, where he contributes monthly updates to a database on the US arms sale backlog to Taiwan. Currently, he is a Horizon Institute fellow at the Federation of American Scientists. Previously he worked in a variety of research and analysis roles at the Cato Institute from 2015 to 2025. He has written extensively on Taiwan security issues, including the Cato policy analysis paper “Taiwan’s Urgent Need for Asymmetric Defense.”
