The ROCA will re-organize the mechanized and armored battalions belonging to four Area and Defense Commands along Taiwan’s eastern coast in 2026, military sources have told Liberty Times. The Guandu Area Command and Taitung Area Command have reportedly already begun this process, with several battalions completing their re-organizations by early 2026. Once completed, the battalions will be re-designated as combined arms battalions, mirroring changes that occurred in several ROCA brigades between 2019 and 2026.
