At the April 15 TAO press conference, Chen Binhua said “peaceful reunification” would bring Taiwan “real, tangible benefits,” framing unification as a way to improve livelihoods, employment, housing, disaster response, and social welfare.
Chen argued that, after unification, Taiwan could share mainland public services and resources, receive more stable supplies of livelihood goods, lower production and living costs, and redirect defense spending toward pensions, health insurance, labor insurance, and other welfare programs.
He also claimed Taiwan residents and businesses would gain more opportunities on the mainland through equal-treatment policies, expanded employment options, and deeper industrial integration in sectors such as semiconductors, precision machinery, agriculture, fisheries, and tourism.
On housing and disaster response, Chen said the mainland would support urban renewal, upgrades to older housing, and improved disaster prevention and emergency rescue capabilities in Taiwan. He concluded that national unification is not only a “righteous cause” but also brings “great benefits,” urging people on both sides to support peaceful cross-Strait development and unification.
